Burloak Regional Waterfront Park

A unique and vibrant waterfront experience

Set on the shore of Lake Ontario and bridging the Town of Oakville and City of Burlington, Burloak Regional Waterfront Park is an important destination for the young and young-at-heart.

A strategic naturalization plan and extensive native Ontario planting form the backbone of the park design, which is supported by a meandering pedestrian trail that traverses the park from east to west. The park design also includes demonstration gardens that provide educational opportunities on the park’s biodiversity; lookout structures that afford expansive views over Lake Ontario; a nature-inspired sustainable waterplay area; and abundant opportunities for active and passive recreation and play. A key highlight of the park is two iconic pavilions that provide venues for gathering and events, while creating a signature identity for the park.

Taking cues from the approved master plan, and in collaboration with an extensive stakeholder group, Brook McIlroy advanced the project from design development through construction documentation. Subsequent phases of the park continue to be implemented.
