Albertus Viljoen is an intern landscape architect with a background in landscape architecture, urban design, planning, and project management. He is passionate about the outdoors, people, culture, and history, and strives to create environments that are enjoyed by individuals and meaningful to their communities. Professionally, his passion for the environment has led to a focus on sustainable design, and an interest in marrying culture, ecology, the environment, and rehabilitation to allow both people and nature to thrive.
Since joining Brook McIlroy, Albertus has been involved in projects of various scales and types including waterfront developments, historic preservations, streetscapes, trail design, cultural placemaking, and institutional landscapes. He manages many of the firm’s landscape architecture projects in North-Western Ontario, coordinating with the rest of the landscape architecture team to ensure that projects adhere to locally appropriate standards.
He holds a Bachelor, Honours and Master of Landscape architecture from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Albertus was part of the project design team and landscape architect for the Steyn City Parkland Estate development, noted as the largest development of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
