Brook McIlroy is honoured that two projects have received Awards of Excellence from Parks and Recreation Ontario, for the Awen’ Gathering Place in the Town of Collingwood and for the Lake Wilcox Park – Youth Area in Richmond Hill. The Awen’ Gathering Place is a pavilion and landscape on the Collingwood waterfront which reflects the Town’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, and which has been used for many events, ceremonies, and gatherings since its opening. The Lake Wilcox Park – Youth Area is a park designed for teens and young adults, a demographic often left out of consideration in programming for the public realm. The animated park features a variety of amenities for sports and play, and integrates art into many of the park landscapes.
