Brook McIlroy Participates in Doors Open Toronto 2019

Brook McIlroy looks forward to welcoming the public to our Toronto office as part of Doors Open Toronto 2019 (presented by Great Gulf)! We will be one of 20 architecture firms participating in the Architects’ Studio Tours, a special program facilitated by the Toronto Society of Architects.

Our interdisciplinary team tackles the social and infrastructural challenges of communities—from the perspective of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, planning, art, and everything in between. Unique among Toronto firms, our office includes an Indigenous Design Studio led by Indigenous professionals. Staff will be on hand from all disciplines, including an architect from the Indigenous Design Studio, who can answer your questions.

Our beautiful open-plan office began life in 1890 as a stately Episcopal church, but the congregation quickly fell prey to demographic changes and the building spent most of its life in the 20th Century as a textile warehouse. In the past decade, the space was often used for film shoots, including Take This Waltz(2011). It briefly became an after-hours nightclub for the musician Drake and featured in his music video “Started from the Bottom”.

For more information, please see the Doors Open website for information about the whole event and the Toronto Society of Architects website for a list of other participating architecture firms.
