Orillia Waterfront Centre Wins a Wood Design & Building Award!

Brook McIlroy is honoured to have won a 2017 Wood Design & Building Award Citation for the Orillia Waterfront Centre. The jury commended the rigour of the design, in that the careful attention to each element of the building emphasizes the simplicity of the design.

The Orillia Waterfront Centre is a significant community space in the picturesque Couchiching Lake park and marina. It is a popular amenity for the residents of Orillia and a thoroughfare for visiting boaters, and boasts a CLT, glulam, and glass lounge offering scenic views along the water’s edge. It serves as a beacon for the community and features a lightbox atop the community lounge, drawing the public towards its warm wood interior.

The design-build project was a joint partnership between Brook McIlroy, Bradanick Construction, Steenhof Building Services, and CLT fabricators Element5.
