Karl is an Intern Architect with over 10 years of experience working in architecture, including 6 years abroad in Norway. His diverse portfolio holds projects in Canada, Norway, the US, the UK, and Kenya, ranging in scale and building type, including office, hotel, residential, religious and educational use. Karl finds satisfaction in taking projects through from start to finish and enjoys the excitement of overseeing the construction process.

In Norway, Karl served as Project Manager with Mad Arkitekter for Vaskerelven 39, an office building project which was awarded the city of Bergen’s architecture and urban design prize for 2020. The project was a combination of new build, renovation, and historical rehabilitation in the city’s downtown, and received acknowledgement for bringing rejuvenation to the existing site, streetscape, and urban realm. Prior to working in Norway, Karl worked with ERA Architects in Toronto where he developed a good understanding of working with existing and heritage-protected buildings.

Since his return to Canada in 2023, Karl is applying his international experience back into the field of Canadian architecture. He earned his Bachelor in Architectural Science and Master in Architecture from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and is located in Brook McIlroy’s Toronto office.
