With an education in both architecture and building science, Doug Belanger has a strong understanding of design principles as well as technical knowledge related to building components and systems. With a particular focus in building restoration, retrofit, and renovation, Doug began his experience with Brook McIlroy on the Ear Falls Public School Renovation, an brought his skills to develop sustainable and efficient solutions for the project.
Doug completed both a Bachelor of Architectural Science and a Master of Applied Science in Building Science at Ryerson University in Toronto. During his time at Ryerson, Doug was a key member of Dr. Umberto Berardi’s Research Group, exploring the effective performance of insulating materials in cold climates, including innovative and novel research on the topics of foam and aerogel insulation. This research has been presented internationally in building science and physics conferences.
