Albert Viljoen is a Senior Associate, Project Manager and Landscape Architect with a background in landscape architecture, urban design, planning, and project management. He is passionate about the environment, culture, and history, with dedication to creating spaces that bring joy to individuals and hold significance for their communities. Throughout his professional journey, his commitment to the environment has driven a dedicated focus on sustainable design. He is particularly intrigued by the intersection of culture, ecology, and rehabilitation, seeking to create harmonious spaces where both people and nature can flourish.


Albert leads the Thunder Bay office and manages many of Brook McIlroy’s projects in Northern Ontario. He has been involved in a broad variety of project scales and types, including waterfront developments, historic preservations, streetscapes, trail design, cultural placemaking, and institutional landscapes.


Albert holds a Bachelor, Honours and Master of Landscape architecture from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Outside the office, he gives back to the Thunder Bay community through his role on the City of Thunder Bay’s Clean, Green, & Beautiful Committee.
